GE announces plan for $100 million Global Research Center in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil as part of a $500 million investment in Brazil

RIO DE JANEIRO – 11/10/2010 - General Electric Company (NYSE: GE) announced today that it plans to invest $500 million (USD) to expand its operations in Brazil and to accelerate technology partnerships with leading Brazilian companies spanning multiple industries. GE has had a presence in Brazil since 1919 and, today, employs more than 6,000 people in the country. The company has operations throughout the country, including São Paulo, Minas Gerais and Rio de Janeiro.
